Adjustable Pallet Racking for New Warehouse — Logistics Business

AR Racking and First Floors Mezzanine have deployed a custom AR PAL Adjustable Pallet Racking system in a new Wolverhampton warehouse for a global chemical and adhesive solutions provider. The installation—part of a 405,000 m² facility—delivers 5,370 pallet positions across 11,500 mm of vertical height, ensuring full selectivity for Euro pallets and ground-floor picking. Completed in seven weeks (including a three-week on-site installation), the project incorporated reused AR Racking beams, mesh decking, rack-end barriers, and upright protectors. Client feedback highlighted exceptional safety focus and on-schedule delivery, while AR Racking’s Project Manager Gonzalo Crovetto underscored the synergy between engineering precision and installation expertise in delivering a future-ready, height-optimised storage solution.

AR Racking, in collaboration with First Floors Mezzanine, has supplied a tailored AR PAL Adjustable Pallet Racking solution for a new warehouse and production facility in Wolverhampton. The project has been developed for a global leader in chemical and adhesive solutions for the construction industry, with the aim of maximising storage capacity while maintaining direct access to every pallet.

Large-Scale Installation with High-Density Capacity

The installation forms part of a large-scale warehouse project covering 405,000 m². With a total capacity of 5,370 pallet positions, the racking system has been designed to make full use of the building height, reaching 11,500 mm, and to provide full selectivity for Euro pallets, including ground-floor picking locations to support agile daily operations.

Accelerated Timeline and Integrated Safety Components

The project was supplied, delivered and installed within seven weeks from the order stage, with a three-week installation programme on site. In addition to the pallet racking structure, First Floors Mezzanine also delivered and installed mesh decking, rack-end barriers and upright protectors, reinforcing safety and security throughout the facility.

Engineering Innovation and Component Reuse

A key feature of the project was the collaboration with AR Racking’s Engineering Team, which developed a specialist solution to reuse previously supplied AR Racking beams within the new configuration. This customised approach allowed the installation to respond to the operational needs of the new facility while making efficient use of existing components.

“What stood out most was the attention to detail and commitment to safety throughout the process. Everything was completed on schedule and to a very high standard. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services to anyone looking for a reliable and well-executed racking design and installation,” stated a representative of the end customer.

“This project reflects the value of combining AR Racking’s engineering capability with the installation expertise of First Floors Mezzanine. Together, we have delivered a robust, efficient and future-ready storage solution that maximises the height of the building, ensures direct access to every pallet and supports the client’s new production and warehouse operations,” said Gonzalo Crovetto, Project Manager at AR Racking.

Through this project, AR Racking and First Floors Mezzanine strengthen their collaboration in the UK market, delivering high-quality storage systems designed around each client’s operational priorities, available space and long-term growth needs.

Iran pushes alternative transport corridors to boost supply chain resilience

Iran is accelerating development of alternative land transport corridors to bolster supply chain resilience amid geopolitical volatility and maritime vulnerabilities. Seyed Ali Emami, Director General of the Readiness and Support Office at Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, stated that ensuring uninterrupted goods movement — not just market competitiveness — is now the core trade priority. With maritime routes dominating global cargo but facing growing risks at chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea, Iran is piloting new land corridors as of August 2026. While exports show strong growth, transit volumes have declined — prompting infrastructure upgrades, cost-reduction measures, and policy reforms targeted for completion in 2026.

DP World launches 15,250-sq-m multi-client warehouse in Riyadh

DP World has opened its first multi-client 3PL warehouse in Saudi Arabia — a 15,250-square-metre facility in Riyadh’s Al Mashael Logistics Hub offering over 17,000 pallet positions. The non-bonded warehouse supports consumer goods, automotive, retail, industrial, and technology sectors, and integrates with DP World’s broader Saudi network, including the $250 million Jeddah Logistics Park. Launched on 30 July 2026, the project advances Vision 2030’s logistics goals amid rising demand from e-commerce and manufacturing. It follows strong regional growth, exemplified by stc Group’s SAR 40.1 billion H1 2026 revenue and 30.3 million mobile subscribers.

Hormuz Ship Backlog Spurs Bioinvasion Risk Alert

Scientists warn that over 1,500 ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz since late February 2026 have accumulated dangerous levels of marine biofouling — including algae, mussels, and barnacles — raising high risks of global 'bioinvasion.' With vessels idle for at least 40 times longer than typical port stays, invasive species may spread to ports worldwide upon departure. A July 22, 2026 report urges mandatory hull inspections and cleaning before resuming voyages, and calls for coordinated early detection at receiving ports. The Strait of Hormuz, handling ~20% of global oil shipments, is now an ecological flashpoint with cascading supply chain and regulatory implications.
